Faculty and Staff

Forest Heights Lodge is very proud of our faculty and staff.  Some of our core staff  members have been  with us for 10, 20 and up to 35 years!


Linda Clefisch, LCSW, BCD – Executive Director

Linda brings a wealth of experience and training to the children, families and staff at Forest Heights Lodge having served as the Executive Director since 1995. Prior to that she worked at the Lodge in a variety of positions including student intern, Youth Treatment Counselor and Director of Outpatient Services. She has also worked as a consultant for Oregon Children’s Services and Pikes Peak Mental Health, and has developed training and consulting materials about treatment planning for children with special needs. As an individual and family therapist, Linda specializes in working with children dealing with separation, loss and trauma within a developmental and relationship model.

Jody Hans Olson, MA – Assistant Director

Jody has worked in residential treatment and special education for over 35 years and has served with the Association of Children’s Residential Centers (ACRC) as an advisor to the Board. Jody began his work with the Lodge as a Youth Treatment Counselor and then as a teacher in the school program. After a five year period of working in public education as a special education teacher, he returned to the Lodge as the Assistant Director. He works directly with the staff and boys on a daily basis.

Michael Rollin, MD - Medical Director

Dr. Rollin is a board-certified psychiatrist for children, adolescents, and adults. He has served as attending psychiatrist and Medical Director for Forest Heights Lodge since June 2017. In this role, he works directly with Forest Heights Lodge students, participates in dialogue with families and coordinates with clinical, milieu and school staff regarding diagnostic formulation and treatment planning, including medication management when appropriate. 

Dr. Rollin has been affiliated with the Lodge since 2017.

Rich Mangen, Psy.D. – Psychologist

  • Post-doctoral Fellowship in Clinical Psychology – The Menninger Foundation 1986

Rich has been licensed as a clinical psychologist in Colorado since 1987, specializing in child and adolescent psychology, psychological assessment, and developmental neuropsychology. Prior to earning his doctoral degree, Rich was a Special Education teacher. He was an Assistant Professor at the University of Denver Graduate School of Professional Psychology, and taught and supervised students in psychological and cognitive assessment, neuropsychology, and psychotherapy. Rich has served on the Boards of the Colorado Neuropsychological Society and the Colorado Assessment Society. As the psychologist at Forest Heights Lodge, Dr. Mangen’s responsibilities include consulting with the clinical and milieu staff, participating in treatment planning of the children, providing psychotherapy to children, and administering psychological testing.

Jim Orsund, LCSW – Social Services Director

Jim began his career at Forest Heights Lodge as a youth treatment counselor and quickly moved into a residence coordinator position. After five years, Jim left Forest Heights Lodge to seek a master’s degree in social work at the University of Michigan, returning in 2001 as the director of social services. He is a case coordinator and family therapist in addition to doing a variety of quality improvement and administrative tasks. He also provides individual therapy, utilizing play therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

Lisa Thoennes, MA – Education Director

Lisa brings to Forest Heights Lodge over 30 years of experience working with special education, emotionally disturbed and at-risk youth in Illinois, Colorado and Kansas. At the Lodge, Lisa directs both the school and the special education program. Lisa is an asset to families and school districts throughout the U.S. for management and implementation of Individualized Education Planning. She is also trained in Lindamood Bell reading intervention and provides ongoing program development with a special emphasis on curriculum and individualized services.

Mark Henninger, MNM - Residence Director

Mark began working at Forest Heights Lodge as a youth treatment counselor, and then as a residence coordinator before becoming the director of residence. Mark supervises the milieu staff including youth treatment counselors, kitchen staff and medical services coordinator. While in graduate school, Mark focused on mentoring and developing staff, mental health advocacy and nonprofit business practices. Mark has utilized his energy and creativity to engage the students in activities that increase self-esteem and promote resilient relationships. Prior to working at Forest Heights Lodge, Mark has experience as an EMT, Wilderness First Responder, climbing instructor and Colorado backpack guide.  His prior experience has prepared him to direct activities such as trips to Great Sand Dunes National Park and the ski program at Forest Heights Lodge.

Scott Lindmeier, BA – Assistant Residence Director

Since Scott joined Forest Heights Lodge he has worked as a youth treatment counselor and a residence coordinator in the milieu. He has been the assistant director of residence since March of 2017. He has 11 years of experience working in residential treatment. Scott assists with overseeing the kids and staff in the residence. He works with student council and coordinates the summer activity groups during the summer months.

Steve Dieter, LPC – Clinical Therapist

Steve joined Forest Heights Lodge as clinical therapist having interned here in 2003. Steve has over 20 years of experience working with children and families in a variety of settings, including residential care, foster care, child welfare and outpatient private practice. In addition, Steve has experience with providing clinical supervision and as an administrator. Steve is passionate about helping parents and children enhance their relationships and helping children. Steve is a case coordinator and provides individual therapy and facilitates social communication/group therapy. As an individual therapist, he is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT/TF-CBT) and play therapy.

Stephani Thomas, LPC – Clinical Therapist

Master of Education in Community Counseling – University of Central Oklahoma 1997

Bachelor of Arts in Psychology – Oklahoma State University 1992

Stephani is a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 15 years of experience in mental health. She has gained a wealth of knowledge from working with a variety of age groups in various settings. Stephani approaches therapy from a trauma-informed and strength-based lens; she meets the student’s needs by applying evidence-based treatment modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Play Therapy, Art Therapy and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy. Stephani is a case coordinator as well as an individual, group and family therapist.

Mark Sobel, LSW – Clinical Social Worker

Mark began working at Forest Heights Lodge as a youth treatment counselor prior to becoming the clinical social worker.  He brings nearly a decade of experience working with children, teens and families in many different capacities including school counseling, individual mentoring, substance abuse and mental health intensive outpatient care, and wilderness therapy.  In his role at the Lodge, he works closely with the clinical team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans and co-facilitates social skills group therapy. Additionally, he provides direct support to the residential milieu and assists in the admissions and assessment process for students and families.

Angela Frederick, MHA – Medical Services Coordinator

Angela joined Forest Heights Lodge with 18 years of experience working with children in residential treatment. Angela’s experience includes direct child care, residential management and fundraising. Angela is responsible for medication management, medical appointments and works closely with Dr. Rollin and Dr. Jendry to ensure the best medical care for each child. She is the CPR/First Aid trainer for Forest Heights Lodge employees.

Ron Jendry, MD – Pediatrician

  • Medical Degree – University of Illinois 1976

Dr. Jendry has been Forest Heights Lodge’s consulting pediatrician for over 22 years. Dr. Jendry oversees medication administration with the medical director, conducts admissions and yearly physical examinations, oversees the care of children who are physically ill and interprets and communicates any medical findings reported by doctors outside the facility. Dr. Jendry belongs to the Colorado Academy of Family Physicians. He has admitting privileges at several Denver area hospitals and has served as an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at Colorado Health Sciences Center. 

Dr. Jendry has been affiliated with the Lodge since 1990.


Our residents live in one big house with 24/7 supervision by highly qualified staff.
