When a student is admitted to Forest Heights Lodge, staff review testing and assessments that have been conducted in the past to establish a clear baseline for the student’s academic functioning. Qualified personnel then fill in any gaps in testing using a battery of academic evaluations selected for their validity and reliability with assessments later in the course of treatment. Results of these assessments help to determine appropriate use of accommodations, instructional methods and documentation on goals from an Individual Education Plan or Learning Plan. When students are preparing to leave Forest Heights Lodge they are reassessed using standardized assessments. This evaluation can be valuable for guiding academic needs during transition to a school after discharge.
